The rose of Jericho is a curious plant, one of the wonders of nature.
It looks like a wisp of withered grass but if you put it in water, it will turn green and unfold.
If it is removed from the water, it will dry up again after a short time and curl into a ball (see picture above).
In its natural habitat, it is blown about by the wind and the seeds are dispersed.
Another name for this plant is Odontospermum Pygmaeum.

It is a desert plant. It grows in the sands of Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico.
The rose of Jericho does not die. Even if you put it away in a drawer for several years, it can be brought back to life again by a little water. Thus, the wonder of this plant can be repeated again and again.
In some countries it is a tradition that it is passed on from generation to generation and at Christmas time it is allowed to unfold to the delight of both children and adults.
